Jhansi: A Historic Land- Part 2

Just beyond the historic city of Jhansi, are a string of fortresses that tell the story of the shifting political powers in the 18th and the 19th century. Many of these fortresses are not quite well known but have a fascinating story to tell.

The most splendid among them is the fort of Samthar that was a seat of a powerful princely state till 1947. A special mention must also be made of the Talbehat Fort, a stronghold of Rani Laxmibai’s chief ally, Raja Mardan Singh of Banpur and the forbidding fort of Garh Kundar, infamous for its legends of ghosts and dacoits. Join us on a journey to the forts of Western Bundelkhand.
